Hello all,
Last December I acquired a Moyo volume pedal. I am very pleased with the product, really well built and fits right into my case. Once accustomed to the size, it's really nice to use.
However, for a couple of month, there is some noise. Specifically, a light scratching when pulling back the pedal fast (for example for a "choke"). In the band mix, this is below the noise, but rehearsing at home, this is very annoying. I try to play everyday, but to say this pedal has a couple hundred hours of use is a generous estimate.
So what should I do? Change the potentiometer (I've heard that once a pot starts to make noise it can't be fixed)? Is that expected or a just a bad part?
Thanks for the help ! |

Have you tried it using another amp? The noise you describe sounds like DC leaking from the amp input, or possibly from another pedal. |

Thanks for the advice !
I don't have another amp to test, but switching with an old Ernie Jr. and no noise can be heard.
I'll try to reach Glenn. |

You might try using a electronic spray cleaner like Deoxit to clean the pot. |

Please let us know what Glenn said - curious to know what our Moyos might encounter.... _________________ www.facebook.com/swingaliband & a few more....

I've been in touch with Glenn, who from the start have been very helpful.
Basically, what seems to be the issue is that I have a bad grounding on my flat electric network. It leaks into the pedal, and since the top and bottom metal part are not connected it creates the noise.
When I experience noise, creating an electrical contact between both parts gets rid of it.
So my fix will be to add a Dunlop JR-style electrical connection between the top and bottom parts.
Glenn have been offering to replace the pedal with one with grounding, but I'll be handling this myself. Top notch support all the way ! |
