This is the sound im after. I'd prefer the newer one with the gloss finish.

David, the one you linked is the Beard R Solid Mahogany. This is an upgrade over the Vintage R which is made from laminate wood.

If one can swing it as far as the price, I have played multiple examples of both over the years and the solid mahogany version IMO is a serious step up from the Vintage R. More power, more volume, great sound.

If you don’t need the pickup I believe Jim has an R Mahogany available at Steel Guitars of North County near San Diego.

I can happily say, as an owner of both the Vintage R and the Mahogany R, that they are both fine guitars, each with their own voice.

Depending on the task at hand, Some days I reach for the Vintage R, sometimes the mahogany.

Love em' both.

Good luck in your search!!

Sorry if this is a silly question. My dad had a "Beard Mike Aldridge Signature Resophonic Guitar" which I will be selling at some point. Is there any chance that is what you're looking for?

Thanks everybody so far. I'm basically looking for a good sounding, professional model guitar that won't break the bank and I'm loving what I'm hearing from the vintage R. It has a bit of a hybrid sound between a vintage tone and a modern tone which I dig. I'd also be interested in a Tom Warner / Appalachian or anything else you all might recommend that might fit the bill. I've tried the Beard Deco phonic model 37 and there's a deco phonic 57 I found online for $2000, but that's a bit above my budget ideally. Also I like the sound of the vintage R more than the deco phonic series. Thanks a bunch!

I'd be interested in the guitar but it may be above my budget of ~$1500 as they typically go for more than the vintage R. But if you are able to work with me on price, let me know!
