Guys:

This was the very first time I recorded myself playing lap steel (I did it as a demo for Bobby Ingano who wanted to buy this pre-war panda--and did. I was fortunate enough to have had some lessons from a fantastic teacher, Jeff Kearns, who showed me how to practice vibrato (among other basic technical stuff):

This was almost 4 years ago and because life gets in the way, I haven't improved much since. But I'm off to Jeff's for a lesson tomorrow and will keep coming back every couple weeks in the hopes I can post something by this Christmas that shows some improvement.

I feel super lucky to be part of this community. You always make me wanna play!

Well done Mark, I liked your vibrato -that is one thing that I really need to improve. Those old Rick’s surely have great tone! Hope all is well with you and yours, Michael

Thanks, Mike, Bill, and Doug!

You guys are always so supportive. Jeff Kearns showed me how to get a good vibrato, so I just practiced what he suggested. He basically started me with John Ely's book, which we're going to start going through again, since I haven't had time to practice in over 2 years.

Hopefully, I learned a lot just hanging out here and listening.

Thanks again, guys... Your encouragement means so much!

Very nice Mark! I thought, as Michael Hillman pointed out your vibrato is excellent. That is one of the issues that some players spent years to achieve so very well done! great tone also!
