I have a Lace Alumatone P 90 Riffian Pup. The manufacturer recommends using 250k pots and a 22 cap. What would be the difference if a 500k pot was used and a 47 cap? I have a lap steel set up as recommended. I was just curious what changing the values would do for sound.

Bill, As I understand it, the 500/47 will not bleed off as much high end which could make a P-90 a bit brighter. I think I'd just leave it as is. Also, the 22 cap is considered to be the go to cap regardless. Anyway, Bill, you build these things, so if you don't like it, just pull it apart and redo it

| I doubt the difference would be anything to worry about. The 500k pot would give you a little more highs, but the larger (.047) cap would tend to counteract that. I suspect the 250k pot and .022 cap would probably give you less overall control over the tone. However, since the parts are only a few dollars, it might be beneficial to try it both ways. |
