Jake, keyboard amps for steel don't get much love around here.
FYI: Session 400, used, at GC, (in Fayetteville), for $350. |

North FL where I live used to be a complete Peavey heaven. Seemed like you could drag one out of every thrift store. Now, since I got back into this, I haven't been able to find a single one. Did I miss someone famous, and then the subsequent hoarding of these things? |

My local music store has a Session 400 with the original BW speaker for $200

Look up Brad Sarno's Session 400 "Recession" cap job info on the web. If you can't find it I can zip it up and send it to you - PM me. It's old enough some of the parts have gone unobtainium. I came up with some equivalent subs. The upgrade accomplishes both replacing electrolytics and putting in some film types in place of inter-stage, signal passing electrolytics.
Now that I own two session 400s I can say it made a positive difference in the tone albeit subtle. I did the cap job to my original Session 400 a few years ago. The second one I got did not have it which allowed me to make an accurate A/B comparison. I have since recapped it as well.
Another difference is the vintage of the black widow 1501-4 SB. I swapped back and forth and to me the spider web magnet (original) sounds better than the newer super structure magnet. Another bonus is the original is a couple pounds lighter. |

Traded a guitar I didn't care for, for a Session 400 Limited today. Seems like it's really dark for some reason, but sounds excellent. |

Okay. I’ll do my duty and say. Ugggg. A pedal steel amp in NO WAY has to be a Peavey. Have u tried a Fender reissue tube amp? |

Just plugged it in for the first time. Gonna need a re-cap. Noisy, even with a power conditioner. THE SEARCH CONTINUES. |
I bet Ken Fox can fix it. Or you can ship to Peavey repair center. _________________ Rittenberry Prestige(2) |

Order the chipset from Ken Fox for the Limited. See how you like it then. _________________ Rittenberry Prestige(2) |
