Hi all,

As some of you know I release albums under a few different one-man-bands focused on different styles of music. One of the styles I love to work in is 70’s era synthesizer based electronic music. For a point of reference I’m referring to bands like Tangerine Dream or solo synthesists like Tomita, Klaus Schultz, John Michel Jarre, Vangelis etc…

About a year ago I got a couple new fancy synthesizers (Arturia PolyBrute & Waldorf Quantum) and got this completely crazy idea of writing songs merging them with E9 pedal steel (technically D9 as I downtune a step). It took me a few months to really get a handle on how these new synthesizers worked and how I could create my own sounds on them.

Well, a couple months ago I decided it was time to give it a go. I wrote a pedal steel piece and worked with adding synthesizer parts to it. I was so happy with the result, I just kept on going 'till I had enough to release a whole album Laughing

I chose to release the album under my band, “The Alchemy of Atlantis“ (the same band that released the "Armistice" album late last year featuring Fender 400 and Mellotron).

The combination of sliding around from chord to chord on my Mullin SD12 and the sounds of the synthesizers gave me the impression of a trip to deep space so I named the album “Celestial“. And for anyone curious, I don't play with fingerpicks and the only effect I run the Mullen through is a Cali76 Stacked Compressor then straight into the board.

When it comes to traditional pedal steel I appreciate it all but am mostly a fan of the West Coast style of players like Jerry Garcia, Sneaky Pete, John McFee, Al Perkins, etc. but when I sit down to write my own stuff on PSG something completely different comes out Winking

I just put the album up on my YouTube channel under its own playlist which can be found at the link below. Thanks for listening and hope you find it enjoyable or at the very least amusing Smile
