What are your oppinions on the best pedal or combo for pedal steel sound from a lap steel??

Now have a SX 6 string lap in G,.A Tele plus telecaster, Larrivee acoustic.Also have a Fender resonator guitar with new Quarterman cone and spider,and an Allan tailpiece.Playing through a Fender Super Champ XD,using a little delay on the amp and a Harmonix Holy Grail Echo pedal,set on Hall turned to about 1pm.Just got a Fender Dual 6 Stringmaster style. Bought a Yamaha FGX5 Recently and love it. |

If you have good amp reverb, I'd say a volume pedal. One would be tough for me. I go with a compressor, Light OD set as a cleanish boost, delay, and reverb/trem combo pedal.
If I had to go smaller, I'd lose either the drive or compressor. If I had to go even smaller, I'd further lose the delay. My minimum would then be Volume>Drive or Comp>Reverb/Trem and I could cover a fair amount of sonic ground with this. |

My #1 would be a volume pedal. I use the old cast Sho-Bud VPs; bulletproof.

Both of my BR-3s are rescues. One has its original P-90, and the other has a Sentell P-90. After I painted the pickup cavities with that nasty black goop known as shielding paint, and covered the inside of the coverplates with copper shielding tape, they are both as quiet as a church mouse.

1. Not a pedal just adjusting tone on your amp and lap steel
2. Volume Pedal - is a nice to have
