I'm really enjoying this thread. Thanks to so many of y'all for the kind words and responses to my humble little EP. I'll be putting out more music very soon.

Jonny Lam - I need you to stop calling me about this thread. I know you're excited because you tried to diss me, but it backfired and everyone on the forum likes my EP. And please stop mailing me your "erotic" Harry Potter fan fiction - half the time you're getting mixed up with Lord of the Rings and the other half it's just not very erotic. :/

I just ran into this thread for the first time. Fantastic in all ways. I very much appreciate the non-stodgy in everything and so here, in music and humor.

I've had this CD in the car since buying it.It's all I listen to when driving.
I particularly like some of the techniques Will uses, like muted picking , vibrato effect, lush Hawaiian type swoops, and volume swells. I think this is a really innovative album. Great rhythm section. And not a country lick anywhere! Well done Will. Looking forward to your next CD.

Fantastic work and use of personal imagination by Will, a man who's not afraid to step out, use and embelish his own thought's and fingerprint.

Great playing brother!

I've seen some good threads in this forum about REALLY paying dues: playing behind chicken wire, drunks falling on your steel, how long to keep playing when fights break out etc

HAS ANYONE HEARD FROM WILL?
We were at a protest this weekend, and he said he would call but haven’t heard from him.

I just ran into this thread for the first time, and I really don't understand it. I enjoyed the music. If all we ever played was country music it would be a sad time for all. Personally, I like many different types of music.

Will’s EP is amazing! I’ve listened to it several times today and I can’t get enough. It’s great to hear other things I enjoy like “in the pocket” drums and bass with great PSG leading the way. I’m not familiar with any of these songs if they’re covers, but it doesn’t matter where the music originated as Will and his awesome rhythm section make all of these their own.

Is there a chance of a Part II ?

This could actually be the title of a thread about today's country music,we recently have the channel called " Country music today". You can argue if it is country music or not.
Well it's all about taste I guess.

Back to the steel guitar same story, back in the days my dad was disappointed with Weldon Myrick's Pedal man.
He was expecting some kind of Jimmy Days " all those years " recordings.
He was a huge Weldon Myrick fan with the country singers, I loved both traditional country steel en the innovative side of it. Not everyone liked Sneaky Pete's sound, i still love it.
Back to Will's recordings, i really like them whether it's country or not.

Well i guess us old folks (I'm 83) seem to like some of this young stuff.

No it ain't country but it is good. Reminds me of smoot jazz.

Oh boy. As if you cannot play anything else on the pedal steel other than country. Imagine that buddy Emmons jazz album then. I despise this brand of narrow minded rabble. I just heard Wills beautiful album and I'm so glad somebody is ready to step clear of pedal steel cliches without posing or overplaying as many others do.
