Topic: Help! Returning a Sho Bud from cajun back to C6 tuning |

Hi! I don't know pedal steel guitars at all so forgive my ignorance. I purchased a Sho Bud S10 (initially three pedals and I no knee levers) in Louisiana from someone who removed (and tossed!) one of the pedals along with the rest of the linkage and tuned it for Cajun music. I've tuned it to C6 but need to replace the one pedal and all the linkage and get the pedals to do what they're supposed to. I'm hoping someone can tell me what I need and where I might source them. Attached are pics of the instrument. Thanks!

| Get in touch with Ricky Davis. He's a forum member and an expert on Sho~Buds. Micheal Yahl will be your best bet on parts. Goodluck on your Sho~Bud project. I think a single neck C6 Bud would be a lot of fun. |

that guitar was designed for E9 tuning. is there any sign of a knee lever having been attached? 3 pedals and one lever is standard for a basic E9.
if you prefer keeping it tuned C6 with only 3 pedals, you could set it up with pedals 5,6,7 to get the most useful changes. adding the standard knee lever on string 3 (lowering C to B) is also highly recommended

Old style Cajun tuning is a pretty straight up G chord with hi G on top, I believe. The pedals change it to C. It’s meant to go along with the Cajun accordion/fiddle tunes. That’s my understanding but maybe someone else has better info.
Here’s an example of Randall Foreman, one of the greats. Not much pedal action here. He used to play Fender steels.

If you haven’t already, contact fellow forumite Daniel Cormier. He was looking for a project and he can definitely help you, if he’s up to it. He’s familiar with the undercarriage and both tunings so he’ll know the best path to achieve your goal.
