Hello all,
I joined the Steel Guitar Forum 1-1/2 years ago and can't say enough the positive impact being a member has been for me. Although I knew of the forum, a forum member ( Glenn Taylor) suggested that it would be a benefit to me to join and I'm glad I did.
Thank you Bob for taking your time and energy in making this endeavour possible! Twenty four years old the Forum is a testament to how social media can be used for the benefit of so many people from around the world. |

b0b, are you surprised that our invention of the Steel Guitar Forum has turned into such a valuable resource and "water cooler" for our steel guitar family?
Thanks for all you do and keep doing to maintain this place!
Fondly,

Initially, I was surprised and overwhelmed by the response. In these modern times it looks like it's being eclipsed by Facebook. I dislike Facebook for a number of reasons, but there are aspects of modern social media that I wish we had here. A way to provide feedback without posting, like MeWe.com's emoji system (better than Facebook), would be nice. A way to post music, PDF files, and maybe even video would be great. Drag-and-drop editing, phone apps, etc. - we're pretty antiquated at this point. And I don't have the skills anymore to bring things up to date. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. b0b,
Just keep it simple.
We don't need to get fancy at this stage of the game!

Dear Bob - The single greatest innovation ever made on the forum was separating steel guitar want ads from all those !@#$% fiddles, banjos, and Martins so that music store owners couldnt just dump all their stock on us. The second greatest was the limit on the number of want ads so that music store owners couldnt just dump all their stock on us. Who wants to look at harmonicas when you're searching for the ultimate Universal 12 string lacquer masterpiece? _________________ Derby SD-10 5x6; GFI S-10 5x5; GFI S-10 5x5; Zum D-10 8x7; Zum D-10 9x9; Fender 400; Fender Rumble 200; Nashville 400; Telonics TCA-500.

Thank you for doing this all these years. I am a newbie and the discussions and answers to questions have been very helpful. Though the fancy bells and whistles may not be there, the discussions and experience of the members comes through loud and clear and that's what counts. |
