Thought some might find this interesting - I did this rework for a friend's record. The tuning is A9 and it is very inspiring. Having the e9 voicings and bends in this register is a lot of fun.

10/10 recommend putting this tuning on your extra steel and never getting hired again.

You can be bendy, out of tune, and LOW with this. Exactly what singers, producers, the general public are really looking for.

I like it. Seems like producers and the general public should welcome a steel pitched a little lower. It's a whole new deal... not like before, and it sounds like warm chocolate mixed with even warmer honey and poured over a hot fudge brownie. Or something.

Some of the tonalities remind me of Sneaky Pete’s B6 tuning and that’s a good thing! I, for one, welcome more “outside the box” thinking so keep going!

Thanks very much y’all. All joking aside, I’ve found this tuning very inspiring and refreshing. Just like a hot fudge brownie.

Excellent! Something new in PSG sound.

Two requests Will:
1. String guages
2. Another squarepusher cover (please?)

I've been on the road, I will try to track down the gauges or get a caliper out this week. I based the gauges on an old Lane Grey post here that I can't find again.

Beautiful! He could probably make a lot of money doing soundtracks for film in Hollywood. They are always looking for something different. A friend of mine, Will Jennings made over 32 million dollars for just writing the lyrics to My Heart Will Go On sung by Celine Dion used in the film Titanic. There's gold in those hills!

Joe - thank you, that's the one. I started with those gauges and tweaked a couple. I remember it being pretty close to that starting point.
Ah, to make $32 million doing anything. Maybe if I write an algorithm that writes the next My Heart Will Go On...

Way cool, Will!
What effects are you using? Very well done.
Any chance this will be on your upcoming album (which I hope you also release on CD)?

Thank you Daniel. The main bit of steel was recorded through a 70's fender twin and has a lot of reverbs and delays on it. Most of the extra sounds are the steel resampled, pitched up, and run through filters etc. This was just a one off for my friend's re-works album.
New album will definitely be on vinyl, and possibly cd as well.
