Haven’t watched it in over 10 years. After watching 30 minutes of it now I remember why. Terrible. Steel Guitars are just props. The word COUNTRY needs to be taken out of the title. Might check it out in another 10 years, ah probably not.

Pathetic. It's a disgrace. So fake and phony. Huge country stars like Lionel Richie and Katy Perry doing presentation along with some other pop and rap artists.

No Country and very little Music.

Just a bad fashion show. I watched just for the steel players as long as I could stand it. About the only good thing I saw was the award to Chris Stapleton and Mike Henderson.

What's really sad is the artists actually think what they're doing is Country. Sold out and gone to the dogs. I'm glad I'm out and don't have to cover this crap anymore.

As always, I support my steel playing brethren...I just wish they had better material to work with.

This subject comes up every year.

I haven't watched in years. Not my kind of "country".

True, it does come up every year 'cause every year it's a disappointment. I don't expect that to change in whatever's left of my lifetime. I expect there will always be people complaining about it unless it gets better. It's not just me and our vocal few.

I have made a posting on the C M A Facebook page. I know it won't get read, but at least I said something to them, to get it on the record and ruffle some feathers.

CMAs? I think Dale Watson sums it up - "Country My A$$!"

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
It’s Nashville Pop.
Pretending to be country.

The CMA's reflect what's playing on the main-stream country radio stations, and the television music video shows, where the beat and the image are the main points. The actual music content isn't that important to those audiences.

Which is why some used to say that CMA stands for "Country? My Ass!"

Now, they don't even bother.

Old men with steel guitars are not the target demographic. Awards have always been a means for the entertainment industry to recognize the artists that bring in the most revenue. Up until the 60s or 70s the music that we consider “country” happened to also be the music pulling in the revenue. Not anymore.
