I use a product called Gorilla Snot. It is a resin based product, similar to violin resin but stickier. It comes packaged in a small jar just like Pick Honey. One added extra: If you finger pick without picks, or hybrid pick, the strings will not slip off your fingers. While not the same same as picks, I have found the added friction can be helpful for getting more volume and pop once you get used to it.

Thanks for posting that, Patrick. We slicky fingers need all the help we can get!

My wife just started using this product, Nerd Wax, on her eyeglasses. It keeps them properly located on her nose.

This product is also made of beeswax, along with coconut oil and gum rosin.

I tried a bit on my finger and thumb picks and it works well.

Beer works pretty well as does lemon juice. Gorilla Snot would actually heat up and get slippery again as I played.
I've heard good things about archery rosin and may well try it as soon as my playing career takes off again...

Is human spittle actually more disgusting than the nasal discharge of an ape?

Should I start a poll?

Is this for flatpicks? Little strips of cork in a triangle work pretty well, they make a little well for your fingerpads to sit in.

Absolute believer in %100 pure spit for the right hand fingers-perfect glue for picks.

And for guitar players, left hand fingers, face grease works the best. Around the nose and forehead are good places. I can still make this in my 50s.

Erv,
I took the very end of my right thumb off 12-13 years ago so the end is now substantially wider and fatter than normal. I use a Blue Herco and often in my case it takes more than oral secretions to get it to stay put lol I have the roll on Sticky Picks stuff (works well) and Gorilla Snot (works ok but a little messy) but I am always looking for something better.
The Pick Honey will be my next tryout. As always I greatly appreciate your input, Erv.
Ya make me laugh occasionally too 😁

Ian,
I’m a mortician. I am woefully familiar with many and sundry disgusting various discharges 😂
