I lost my copy years ago and now I'm probably down to Jeff's "Dirty Eight" or something like that. Does anyone have a copy they could share here?

I do but it was written out by my steel teacher in 1979. I'll be home in a couple of days & if someone else hasn't already I can scan it. A great foundation of licks.

David, back in the '70s, Jeff Newman traveled a lot doing seminars. They were great. He had a handout called "the dirty dozen" which was a selection of take-off points for endless licks based on twelve basic patterns -- or licks. Great, great stuff.

Looks like it'll be a few more days to get home. Hope they scan ok. My teacher penciled them out on Tab. They'd be worth redoing but I won't have time anytime soon. I'm not concerned with copyright issues as these are just twelve licks my steel teacher tabbed out for me. I remember him saying learn these twelve and you can get through any country gig. I learned them and had a pretty good time. Not long ago I was trying to run through them and was surprised how much I had forgotten. I need to brush up.

I think if you take em one measure at a time they'll make sense to you. I don't remember any audio of them except my steel teacher running through them once or twice. Some of them became integral to my picking pretty quick.

Scott Denniston's post about the Dirty Dozen licks prompted me to dig through some old notebooks for my old copy.

I couldn't find the original copy so I transcribed Scott's copy into a larger format using Tabledit.

I'm happy to see these again - it's been a long time. It dawned on me that some others may enjoy these licks.

I have a .pdf file that I'd be happy to send anyone interested. 6 pages printed.

If you'd like a copy PM me through the Forum with your email address.

Thanks Scott for digging these out...

You guys are sure welcome. I didn't have to dig very far though as they were on my stand in front of the steel. Michael I'll pm you. It'd be nice to have a more legible copy. Thanks.

I was blindsided by the number of you that asked for an enlarged copy of the Dirty Dozen...I may have lost track who I sent it to...

If you asked for a copy but haven't received it yet, please ask again. I'll try to do a better job of tracking.
