I don't know, Jim. I bought a course from Frenchy in the 70's that John did on the use of the chromatics~ "Trappin' Squirrels"- so Frenchy might know

Actually, Jim, I had dinner with Frenchie in St Louis one evening and we talked about that course, and Catfish John. Frenchie too has lost track of him, which is why I thought I'd post the query here...

The last contact I had with him was about 40 years ago. He called me and asked me to play a gig in his place as he had acquired diabetes and it was messing up his night vision. He could drive to the gig, but would have to drive home in the dark. I played the gig for him. Some time later I talked with him on the phone and he said he was shooting insulin four times a day. This does NOT sound very positive. And that was about 1981 or 1982 as I recall. He used to be in the home band at Archie and Marlene's Nashville North on Irving Park Road at the very south end of O'Hare airport west of Chicago. The band was "Dave Gibson and Hackenbush". That's where I met him when I was just getting into steel in the 70's. He did move from IL to CA back then.
