Hook and Donnie... thanks fellas. I realize that some of our Steel Guitar brothers don't even own a computer. Just hoping to plant a few seeds. _________________ www.BuckReid.com |

Hi Eugene... Mike was unable to remember who the guitar went to or where. Thanks for your interest! _________________ www.BuckReid.com |

Hi Buck....have you contacted Kelcey O'Neil? He is someone that might help since he repairs push/pulls all the time.
Kelcey has helped me in many ways repairing my pedal steel and locating guitar parts. Give him a try...he has a lot of contacts.

Just saw this post for the first time, though I see the thread was created almost 4 years ago.
Buck is looking for a Rosewood D10 Emmons P/P Mike Cass restoration with serial # 1346.
Abe Levy has a Rosewood D10 Emmons P/P Mike Cass restoration with serial # 1349.
I'm a numbers guy, so I asked myself...
What are the odds that both guitars are Rosewood D10s that Mike Cass restored? Obviously it's not impossible, but I think it is highly improbable.
Buck, are you sure the serial # of your dad's guitar isn't 1349 (not 1346)?
Abe, have you double-checked that the serial # of your guitar is 1349 (not 1346)?
I mean no disrespect to either gentleman -- I just wonder if one mistaken digit is preventing this mystery from being solved...

Thank you Anthony. What you say makes sense but in this case, I grew up with the guitar and though I don't have a photo, I'm sure the Serial number is 1346.
I hope Abe will see this and check as well! _________________ www.BuckReid.com |

Anthony - I am with you on the numbers thing... How is this for a coincidence?
https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=263681&highlight=1346
Here, JoAnn Kreder's husband posted, in 2014, that they bought a BMI steel with serial number 1346. My thought was that, because JoAnn, not her husband, was the steel player, that it "could" be another PSG brand... like maybe an Emmons?
Well, I mentioned it to Buck. And I tried, on a number of occasions and in various ways, to contact the Kreders, but no response at all.
Who knows!?!
UPDATE - Never mind; false alarm. - After more research, JoAnn posted pics of the BMI in the "For Sale" post below. She sold it to buy the Williams she is now playing. It still IS and unusual coincidence! Oh well!

Anthony Parish-Tommy Cass just rebuilt mine and Tiny Olson’s ‘69 push pulls #’s 1312 and 1316 at the same time!

I picked my guitar up from Tommy yesterday. It plays and fits me perfectly. Tommy went out of his way to make sure it fit and worked perfectly. Mine is the 2" taller than standard Rosewood. My hat is off to Tommy for his outstanding work on my guitar.
What's interesting is that my horn (#1312) is a Cutback and John's (#1316) is a Fatback. Only four serial numbers apart, they were probably both on the workbenches at the factory at Webb Ave. at the same time in 1969. 1969 was apparently the transition year from Cutback to Fatback as I've seen several '69 D-10s in either design over the years. I seem to remember that they had quite a few cabinets pre-made and stockpiled in a backroom in the old days.
John, your guitar looks great. I visited with it yesterday at Tommy's. Hope you're well man..!!
Buck, I hope your search for #1346 will ultimately work out for you and she comes back to you. It was always great visiting with you and hearing you back in the 80s when we did shows together with John and Gene. Hope you're well too brother. |
