| I have used countless different amps, and they are all open back. It seems like half my sound (and volume) blows out the back. Then, when I turn up loud enough to hear myself, I'm too loud for everyone else (especially the sound guy). I have tilt back legs, and blow it right up at me, and I still have the issue. Perhaps it's me. |

Jeff, I also have the 202 Quilter Combo head along with both the TT-12 and TT-15... there is something about the cabinet combined with the 202 head that just works... if there's anything going out the back it isn't enough to diminish what's coming out the front in a nice augmented way... (Yes Musical Pun Intended) The amp has loads of power whether I run just the 12" or the 12 and 15 together.
I've also been around Travis Toy enough and he's NEVER lacking for power playing through the 202 12" Combo

Jeff,all of my amps(TT12,Fender DeVille,Fender Champion 100) are open back...same issues you describe..
Off topic,sort of, but the best $100 bucks i ever spent musically ,was on an in- ear monitor..
Before, I had my DeVille on 5- 6( LOUD), after getting in- ears its been on almost 3....
Forgive me ,i dont know if this is something that will even apply to your situation.
Side note- my TT12 will play her first gig this coming Friday. |

I have a TT12 and love it. More volume than I'll ever need and no issue from what goes out the back.
There are two models of the Quilter Blockdock 12 HD speaker cabinet that is used with the TT12. The original model with a full wooden base where the TB202 amp is mounted and a later version with most of this cut out. The original model (what I have) sort of acts as a pseudo porting and there is more low end response. The later model speaker cabinet (that I tried out and sent back to Quilter), the mounting plate is cut out to accommodate deeper speakers, more like an open back speaker cabinet, and loses a slight bit of low end - enough to be noticeable.
I can't comment on the TT15.
A little background on how I wound up with both cabinet versions. The original TT-12 that I received the plate and screws that hold the amp in place came loose in transit and the amp was loose inside the back of the cabinet. It tore the tolex in several spots, scraped the back of the speaker and scratched the amp housing. Quilter sent a complete replacement but the second one didn't quite sound like the original damaged amp and upon investigation and comparing the two side by side I found the difference in the mounting plate. Quilter sent a replacement "old style" speaker cabinet and I was a "happy camper".

Used my Quilter TT-15 with the TB-202 for the first time on a stage last night...
I went direct from the XLR output.... sound on stage was amazing, and the sound guy seemed real pleased as well.
Nice amp, glad I bought it!
