Since we don't know the specs for your amp, it's hard to offer advice.
It depends on the the amp limitations. F.I., most modern Peavey steel amps are minimum 4 ohms total.
So if you have, say a 4 ohm cabinet and an 8 ohm cabinet daisy chained together with standard speaker cables, pluging in one and out of that into another in a parallel connection, you'd have a total of 2.67 ohms. That's borderline but perhaps acceptable. Many Peavey amps do not recommend using 2 ohms.
Using 8 and 16 ohms in parallel = 5.33 ohms. [edited]
If you're using them with an amp head, refer to the information printed on the amp or in a manual.
I used a NV400 with an 8 ohm JBL extension cab on ocassion without any problems.
There is a way to wire speakers in series for a higher total load, but that's normally done with wiring together speakers in the same combo amp/cabinet.
I defer to the experts and more knowledgeable on the subject however.

Larry, as suggested, check the rear panel on your amp(s). My Peavey 'Artist' calls for an 8 ohm internal speaker but the external speaker jack is labelled for 4 0hms which should be ideal for your situation. |

Well thanks guys,I play thru a N-400,and a VEGAS-400,once in awhile a Bandit-65 with mods.I think I’ll just stay with single speaker.don’t want to burn any of my amps up,
But thanks ,it was very helpful.I really don’t know the ohms on the CTS SPEAKER,but it came out of a bass amp!(peavey)

Right you are. Sorry 'bout that.
Larry, if you have an ohm meter or DVOM or know someone who has, you can measure the resistance between the two terminals. |
