I have a Goodrich L120 volume pedal that at times squeaks as I work the pedal. It's not a scratchy pot sound and it does not come through the amp. It sounds like the shaft needs to be lubricated. I took the plate off and don't see anything obviously wrong. This pedal is a few years old, but has not been used much.
Has anyone experienced this before? I don't want to start spray lubricant without knowing what I'm doing.

Had one do it a few months ago. The string was making the noise on the shaft. Just a dab of some sort of thin lubricant did the trick. Could have been build up.It stopped, and was smoother afterwards.

Like a good dog, I did a search for my squeaky goodrich pedal here on the forum.
Is the thin lubricant on the string still considered sound advice?

| May be better to rub a bit of wax on the string rather than lubricant..If it does prove to be the shaft squeaking however, I would recommend driving one end of the shaft out at a time, (not completely, only until it almost clears the inside of the pedal case), then apply a bit of grease inside the slot. |

Just a touch of something on a Q-tip added underneath the string if I remember. Wax would also be an option.

| Hey Paul, Yes don't spray anything in there, Never a good idea. Probably is the spring rubbing on something. The fasteners that hold the the spring and tension the spring may have shifted a bit. Maybe with a screwdriver try to move the spring around a bit. You can send me the pedal and I will fix it for you. No problem. |

Hi Kevin, I dredged up this old post while searching for the cure for my low profile squeaky pedal.

The spring inside the Goodrich vol. pedal pulls the top to the left so the friction between the bronze bushing and left side of the base for friction. So you can take your foot off the pedal it will not change volume. This may be where the screech is, It may be the pot shaft is dry and squeaking. Just a little smear of oil in the right place will stop the screech.
REMEMBER, Take the bottom off the VP and loosen the screw that locks the the pivot shaft in the pedal. It is usually easy to shove out with a dowel rod then. |

I've also had problems with a squeaky Goodrich Omni that can be distracting.
I've been told that the group of 5 black wires that connect the circuit boards of the right and left side can rub against the top of the pedal. |
