I'm right at 10 but i still need a Bakelite and a Weissenborn!

Coincidentally, the first two non-pedal guitars I obtained were a Bakelite and a Weissenborn (branded "Maul Maid") that I purchased at Island Guitars in Honolulu in the early 1980s. Still have 'em.

That's great, I've had some Bakelites but never owned a Weissenborn, I've played a couple good one's though.
I have my eye on a couple though and if all goes well i might be able to swing a big one this year. A Weissenborn,D18, Les Paul or Bakelite are what I'm craving, in that order. I dont actually really need anything though,I'm set with what i have now just fine.
Btw, i just got the Knutsen book and it ain't helping with the gas at all!

If each and every one makes you happy, then you don't have too many (provided you are able to pay the bills). I've been noodling on lap steel for years, still can't play worth a damn, and I'm still collecting. I just bought THREE of Bill Asher's 2021 Hawaiian Jr models in different colors because for the price, they can't be beat and they are so beautiful! Also just bought a six string Jerry Byrd Frypan from Mitsuo Fujii of Fuzzy Steel Guitars in Japan. Why? BECAUSE I JUST HAD TO HAVE ONE, THAT'S WHY. My wife is resigned to all of this, so life is good! Oh, did I mention that I also have THREE BASS lap steels (Rukavina, Fouke, and Jackson)? Collect and HAVE FUN, Ryan!!!

I made the decision a while back to only keep what I actively play. A few years back I offloaded most of the gear that was collecting dust and taking up space and have no regrets. I know of some folks that do have regrets so don't offload anything in haste.

Seven is not enough. Somewhere between seventeen and seventy might suffice.
