Hi all, just posting my copedent in case anyone is interested. Many thanks to bOb for ideas and Johnny Cox for inspiration.

I play a '74 pull release Marlen, and this tuning is rock solid on it. I rarely need to tune during a set, and at home I can go for days without much more than a tuning tweak here or there. The pedals and levers and smooth, soft, and quick. I can switch from classic E9 country to non pedal swing and blues easily. I have ideas for more changes, but I haven't really found myself NEEDING anything else.
