Is there a digital reverb that would replace the spring reverb unit inside the amps cabinet...and operate using the reverb knob (on the front panel)???

Interesting idea . Would need it's own power supply . I think any existing reverb pedal would work if you could pad the input signal going to it from the amp . Would operate like an effects loop .

I'm running the Eventide H9 multi-effects unit. It sits inside my amp in the effects loop and everything it can do can be remotely programmed from my phone on the fly. Much more powerful than just an on/off and effects level switch.

Forumite Steve Paris in Los Angeles installed a BOSS RV-3 into an older Peavey bass practice amp, so it's doable. Perhaps he'll chime in and explain.

I remember several years ago, a company sold a device that plugged into a fender amp in place of the reverb tank to make an effects loop, but I don’t remember what it was called.

"A great digital reverb sound that easily replaces a spring reverberation unit."

I think most amps with built-in reverb tanks are all designed differently inside so I doubt you could make one product that would fit very many of them. I guess someone could make a digital replacement tank, but they would have to make many versions, it would be costly to install and spring reverb is cheap and sounds pretty good and rarely fails.
