Continuing my recent deep dive into B11th tuning, I just completed a B11th arrangement of "Midnight at the Oasis" that includes Amos Garrett's groundbreaking solo note-for-note. This was one of the hardest arrangements I've ever had to figure out and it changed a lot over the course of translating it to lap steel. In there end, it wound up pretty easy to play.

Amos Garrett's solo is often cited as one of the best solos ever played on a pop tune. Here's the way cool ending lick to this famous solo. It starts as a pickup note with the last note of bar 47. It's actually easier to play than it sounds. Snippett of the original here:

Very cool Andy. I've always thought that was one of the greatest guitar solos. I like the rhythm guitar style in that tune as well. I learned it when I was a kid.

Yep. Amos is a unique stylist. Cool how he was influenced by the steel guitar and in turn, influences steel guitarists. Their licks are coming back to the source but filtered through his guitar playing.
