My knee-jerk* reaction is "what's the point", but of course the answer is "to save weight and setup time".
Interesting idea.

Russell, interestingly enough, knee levers actually predate the floor pedals! In the early 1930's (even before the Harlin Multi-Kord), an acoustic Hawaiian steel guitar called the Hawaiian Harmolin was introduced. It featured six or seven strings, and two knee levers, and was designed to be played on one's lap. It was probably in production for almost a decade.
I'm sure a few more modern steels have been built with only knee levers, but I've yet to find a picture or get more information.
The search goes on. |

This is a really cool idea. I would have trouble hitting those Mooney-style pedal-pumps I like, but I wonder how fast one's knees could get with practice. _________________ Marlen S12 and a ZT Club |

There's a story of Zane Beck "inventing" knee levers when he got a job with a bandleader who said "I don't want those newfangled pedals on your guitar"
He replaced the pedals with knee levers and the the bandleader was happy as a clam.
That's the gist of the story, the words are mine. |
