Hey, all. Checking to see if anyone has experience w/ the Standel C 30 B model. Just picked one up- appears to be a 1970 build. Haven’t had a chance to pull chassis yet, but I’m guessing that it has the epoxy block “module” configuration. Checking to see if anyone could hip me to the “must do’s”, assuming it’s unmolested. I will covert to a 3 prong cord, but my main query is this: if the circuitry IS encased in epoxy, and it contains electrolytic capacitors, would it be necessary to replace the caps, or could it be assumed that the encasement may have prevented any extrusion of the electrolytic fluid? Seems fully functional on initial test, not even a pot crackle.

Thanks all,
-Pete

I would replace all visible electrolytic capacitors. As for electrolytics in the sealed modules, they are a ticking time bomb. When they blow you will have to replace the whole module.

I had a Standel amp that I got rid of because of the encased components. Not long after, someone posted in a thread here on the forum that they had a way to repair these old amps. This was at least 15 years ago. A forum search will yield several threads on repairing these amps and who to contact.
