I'm working on a 135 watt Fender Twin Reverb amp and the voice coil of the speaker is rubbing. The speaker is a 15" speaker, marked Fender 15F, OEM speaker built by Electro-Voice. Anybody have any info on which EV speaker this might be?
Thanks!

Jerry,
If it's an Electro-Voice it's most likely an EVM15L. If you send a picture I can verify it's identity.
Those are great speakers.
I can recone it and get it back to working as it should. I ran a shop that was an authorized EV service shop for about 25 years. I have seen lots of these speakers over the years.
It's about $100 for the recone.
Send a picture if you can.
Thanks
Jeff

Might also be an EV Force speaker. I've had a couple of Fender amps that came with Force speakers OEM. Post a pic of the speaker, it will be clear which it is. They're both good speakers. Both cast frames, and can handle quite a bit of power, but for pedal steel I probably prefer the EVM. I used a 12" Force in my '58 tweed Tremolux for a long time, a great sound but that was for guitar, a different bag. |

Jerry,
That speaker in the picture is an EVM speaker. |

That looks like an EV DL-15 bass speaker. I have a couple of EVM-15 speakers, and it doesn't look like either of them, but I know they made many different variations over the years. |

It also looks just like a 15L EVM I recently got in a trade. But mine is marked 224 while that one is marked 207. Mine has neither a Fender faceplate or EV lettering on the dustcap. Otherwise there's no discernable difference.
After looking for more information it occurs to me that 224 or 207 might be the diameter of the magnet.
"L" apparently designates "Lead", meaning it is intended to be used in high gain amplifiers for guitar (as presumably a rebranded Fender offering would). |
