I'm looking for an amp for only playing at home (playing steel is just a hobby for me) and I don't get into any loud volume stuff playing in my small condo.
With that in mind, I'm thinking about getting a Roland "Blues Tube Hot", what I think I like about it, it has simple controls and a power attenuator control. I've seen a lot of nice reviews on 'you-tube' but mostly by 6 string players. I think anything more powerful (even a Nash 112) is just too much amp for my situation.
I really like Aaron's tone on this review:
but that is for a 'Blues Tube Artist'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6deXUT8JSY&t=317s
But he also say's that he is using a Peavey Profex

Any negatives on the "Blues Tube Hot'?

Man, that amp looks like a winner! It's got about every feature you'd want. The built-in power attenuator is a MUST for us bedroom players; the USB and line outs give a lot of versatility. I think you'd have to HEAR it in person, though, to see if it really does have that tube sound. Roland has gotten damn good at tube emulation over the years, though. A bit pricey at nearly $1,000!!

Get yourself a 50 Watt Boss Katana, it’s got everything you could want especially the effects.

Personally, I would never spend a grand (or anything close to that) for an amp to play only at home. But more importantly, what kind of guitar do you play? What kind of music will you be playing? These are very important considerations when you're selecting an amp.

Thanks all for your comments:
Donny I'm retired and playing steel at home is a great enjoying past time / hobby for me. Being that and not getting any younger I decided to treat myself to a S10, Mullen G2 with a standard single coil pickup which I'm still awaiting delivery, but now using an S10 Williams. I play (or try to anyway) mostly older time country & gospel stuff.
I do a lot of watching guys playing at home and most of the time I see them using elaborate equipment for a home setting and this makes it so much confusing for me.

What lead me to the Blues Cube was watching Arron of Steel Picking on youtube. He explained that he was using the Blues Tube Artist which sounded awesome. But I thought that particular amp the "Blues Tube Artist" (80 watts and $1,000.00) was too much amp for me (power & price wise) so I thought and I chose the Roland "Blues Tube Hot" a 30 watt amp for a little over $500.00 and I do really like it. I set the power attenuator at 5 watts. I also like using a Keley Caverns reverb / delay pedal.
Another thing that I have learned is that you can go crazy spending money on equipment, trying to buy that tone or whatever we call it.
But if you or anyone can shed any advise or thoughts, please do.
Thanks again.

From what I could find on an internet search:
- There is no such thing as a Blues Tube Hot.
- There is no such thing as a Blues Tube Artist.

In the original post there is a link to a video.
Unless I missed it, there is not a single note played in the entire 7:35 of the video.

Yes ajm you are indeed correct but I think (Aaron) claims to be using that (Blues Cube Artist)on all the video's he produced. I guess it would have be nice if he played a note or two for that demonstration.

Yeah, there are many that assume that you need tons of (expensive) stuff to sound good, or get noticed by other players. Many of the videos are as much a brag-fest of "Look what I got" as they are a music exposition. That's fine if that's your bag, but I was never impressed by the equipment people used. Gear never made a musician.

Good for you. Already you've learned a valuable lesson that many never do.
