Since our PR man (Larry King) will be out with back surgery, I will start pushing this to the top.

I am making plans to attend this show. Back in 1974 I attended the Hank Thompson School of Country Music at Claremore. Gene Crain gave me private steel lessons at the time. I have been to the PSGA show in Norwalk, CT many times and even got to the Dallas show one time. This will be my first time for the Tulsa show. I'm looking forward to seeing some good players and making some new friends.

Well, in truth my wife and I are coming to Oklahoma to visit her sister in Miami. I made sure to schedule the visit so that I would be here for the show. I met my wife while I was at Claremore Jr. College. We both went on to OSU and then lived and worked in Oklahoma for 7 more years, living in Stillwater.
It will be good to hear some live music. With Covid, I have not been out for a long time. See you soon!

Larry, Please be there early Saturday for Tony Tiptons set. He always wears an OU hat. Please bring your OSU hat to show your support. We always give him trouble over the hat. Roy Rosetta even gives him a couple "Hook'em Horns"

See ya there.

Did anyone ever write a schedule that was perfect the first time? It was not this time, either.
But we are going to have a great time together no matter where or when we play. Right?

Beverly, make sure and have security there just in case the OU/ Texas ( and little brother OSU ) stuff get out of hand . like putting a Horns cap on me while I played. 😁 ( I am an OSU Okmulgee grad, just always been a Sooner. Lol .) Look forward to seeing everyone.

Tony Tipton, I do not believe that I will put a Texas hat on your head but my decision could change. It is all in good fun and we are in for a great show.

All sorts of free stuff at the Oklahoma Steel Guitar Association annual Convention
When Scotty's show was still open , there was an issue re: the cost of everything....you had to pay to park and it wasn't cheap . Then there was the cost of food....I walked two blocks down the street with two Steel Guitar builders just to save a few bucks on lunch . It made
you long for a good 'ol baloney sandwich .Of course , there was the price of admission.....it was high but worth it .
Then , as an exhibiter , if you paid for an 8 ft area , that's all you got.....don't even think about putting a guitar case across that imaginary line 'cause Mike {Scotty's son} would make you move it . I'm not putting down the ISGA or Scotty....thank God for him but these are some of the issues in St Louis

Well my friend , do I have good news for you ...

First of all , the admission fee..NO CHARGE !!!
Second , the cost of food.........NO CHARGE !!!
Then , if you're an exhibiter.....NO CHARGE !!!
Next , the value of fellowship....No Charge !!!
Finally , parking . it's free.....NO CHARGE !!!

Food....I have a fondness for it . We're not talking about heat lamp scorched junk food..No Sir , this lunch is provided by the Ladies of the OSGA ,prepared in love and served with a smile , this homemade sandwich , chili dogs , and mother loved dessert's are to die for and I want to thank all the Ladies for their dedication and culinary skills . Bless you . You can't beat a deal like that so mark your calendar's for June 25 and 26 at St James in Jenks 'Til tomorrow

Larry gave me some names of the greats who have entertained folks for many years, which include: Bobby Seymour, Larry (Wimpy) Sasser, Junior Knight, Gary Hogue, Bud Isaacs, Herb Wallace, Hal Rugg, Buddy Emmons, David Wright, Joe Wright, Russ Hicks, Terry Crisp, Tom Brumley, Johnnie Cox, Ralph Mooney, Buck Reid, Jim Lossenburg, Terry Bethel, Herb Steiner, John Hughey,Buck Grantham, Bud Carter, Gene Fields (GFI) and Janet Lynn. . Not to leave out some of our locals, we need to include Randy Beavers, Terry Day, Gene Crain, Dickey Overbey, and John Buffington. Many folks remember little Austin Stewart sitting on his grandpa's knee, watching every move, turned into a fine player.
Several have gone, but some are still hitting the road with good music. Actually, there are several who have played at OSGA Conventions, and some are THIS YEAR!!
Thanks, Larry, for the list of Greats.

I know that it sounds silly, but the year that Bud Issacs was at the Tulsa show, I got to hold the door to the tuning room open as Speedy West, followed by Ralph Mooney, followed by Bud Issacs came across the hall looking like the Beatles on the Abby Road album cover. I closed the door and looked at whoever was standing by me, and said, Did you see that? He said it was the beginning of the end, I told him it was more like the end of the beginning.

I was able to attend the Oklahoma show on Friday and had a great time. I enjoyed all the players and the great musicians in the band. It was a good show, well organized and in a great location. The food and fellowship was enjoyable and I was able to spend some time talking with some of your members and my first steel guitar teacher, Gene Crain. Thanks for your entertainment and hospitality. It was great to get out and hear some good live music after a long dry spell.
