| Sounds great friend! You and the amp. You are developing into another Tom Morrell with that swing style. All the chord masters in Texas and Tennessee played Western Swing for pleasure. They played songs in chords rather than notes. They would have 3 to 5 passing chords between each major chord change. I recorded a lot of it. Love it! |

Thank you Don, thats extremely kind of you... I kinda did this a little off the cuff... James Morris said he wanted to hear the amp in HugheyLand so I gave him a little ending that may or may not have qualified, but it was the 23rd fret 😉

LOL... Thanks Larry, I credit Rick for adding his great Bass chops for that ... I need to concentrate on that style more and work on single note lines as well, cause I'm really drawn to it.

Thats some lofty air there David, thanks so much... I'll never be worthy of restringing Tom's guitar. I'm a big admirer of all those guys from Texas. I've been saying since I started playing steel as a kid, that I grew up in the wrong part of the Country, and really needed to be around guys like Tom and Junior, Maurice, Jody and David. I really needed hands on guidance to get me dialed in, instead of stumbling through it all the way I do.

Dale you are doing just fine on your own but yes we all could use a little help from our friends. I'm sure Buddy Emmons was taking notes from other players himself. Nobody so far has claimed to know it all.
That amp sounds really good. Sounds like you got the noise level low and unnoticeable now. |

Hey David... my wiring in here is somewhat iffy... if its Tuesday and raining on the 10th of August ... well you get it, somedays it's dead quiet in here and other days I just shut it down cause I can't get past it. That said, what little hum or noise I did record from amp hum to fan whirl, I was able to take out with a Waves Plugin called Z-Noise... Super simple to use... just loop the beginning or the end where you hear the noise, turn it up if you have too... there's a "Learn" button on Z-Noise that listens to what's going on, and then push one slider all the way up and then another slider to set the threshold. You just push it up a touch past where the noise disappears because as you add compression and whatever else you could bring some of that noise back. But look who I'm telling LOL. AND it doesn't seem to alter the Tone any, so easy and works and win win.

| Awesome! Sounds like you got it under control. That reminds me of an engineer friend of mine in Nashville. He's 81 now but still doing it. He (Steve Wright) said him and another deceased friend of mine (Curtis Kirk) had a studio together in Tyler. He said they couldn't start recording till 12:00 midnight when the TV station signed off the air. The studio was across the street from the TV studio, transmitter and antennas and it was nothing but static, no music when they cranked the TV transmitters up. It covered and still does all of East Texas and some of North Texas and Louisiana. I can imagine. 😂 |
