Hi, I recently picked up a ‘37 Gibson EH-150 amplifier to pair with my ‘38 Console Grande. I’m looking for a way to transport/protect the amp so I can gig it without having to use the original handle on the amp (which is on the verge of falling apart). A regular padded Tuki case still requires me to use the handle and a road case is too heavy/bulky for my needs, since I don’t tour anymore. I had thought about a heavy canvas tote, but am unsure if it would be big/strong enough or where I could get one. The amp weighs about 30lbs. Any suggestions/ideas? Thanks, as always. Pete |

Maybe one of these will work: L.L.Bean Totes |

Depending on the dimensions of the amp, you might find a padded/zippered speaker bag that would be suitable. For example, this is what I use for my Fishman MiniLoudbox.........

Ditto what D said. I bought an 8" PA speaker case for my Roland Street Cube EX. It's not a perfect fit, but has better padding and is half the price of the ones made for the EX. |

Yeah, I’d thought of that, but I want to keep the amp as original as possible. The chassis isn’t designed very well, in that the top isn’t really strong enough for the weight of the amp - there’s a lot of pressure on the rivers and rounded top corners. I’d like to find a ‘tote’ style bag that’s big/strong enough, but that also fits the vibe of the amp. |

Peter,
I have Studio Slips clamshell covers on my Telonics rig. They are not cheap but are a good investment for expensive gear or a vintage pice you are looking to protect. They custom build them to your dimensions and can make one with a handle think.
I first became aware of them because they are friends of b0b’s and he recommended them here on the forum.

I can send you a couple of pictures of mine if you want to see what i am talking about.
Good luck! _________________ Bill Cunningham

I saw this at Michael's craft supply store and thought it might fit a speaker cab I have, or a small amp.
