I'm pretty sure it's pre-'89 when they did away with the two digit prefix
Thanks!

Peavey's Roger Crimm posted this info several years ago. Read second post for serial numbering.

I've posted this link several times. It'd be nice if it were made a sticky for everybody to find.

If Jerry's attachment is correct, it would have to be a 1980? The first session 400 wasn't made until 1974. 1980's amps are supposed to have an 8 digit number, but yours has 6 digits. A 6 digit is supposed to be 1970's. 0A has to be 1980. The transition to 8 digits must have taken over sometime in 1980. I would assume yours is an early 1980 manufacture date? Could it be a Session 400 Limited? The Limited took the place of the original Session 400 around 1980. Limited is built with IC chips and the older 1970's 400's were built with transistors.

Judging by the 6 digit number, I agree that it is an 80 year model issue. Going into 81, more digits were added to the serial numbers.

The 80s LTD was the same as the original Session 400 in a smaller cabinet. It was never labeled Limited.

The Session 400 Limited is a completely different amp and it wasn't produced until the late 80's at the earliest.
