Is this an “Art Attempt” some previous owners whim, or did Rickenbacker have a Special Factory Run?

Anybody ever see one of these Pandas in the wild?

I bought the "blue" Rick from a pawn shop in Fullerton Calif about 1970. The panels are made of a cellulose material, not metal.

The Bronson versions of the Panda had copper colored plates but that's about all the color I've ever seen on one...

I like the original style but the Bronson is a looker for sure...it reminds me of Chuck Moore's curly koa version which is amazing!
