Quick question,
Will a Reno 400 amp drop into a Vegas 400 cabinet?

No. A Vegas cabinet is much wider than the Reno.

So I'll have to drill new holes in the top and fill in the sides a bit?

From an Electronics post 1/13 2010.

Yes, you'd have to modify the cabinet mounting to install a Reno in a Vegas enclosure.

You could probably transfer measurements from the Reno and design some fillers for the gaps.

Thanks folks,
I've got a lead on a Vegas with a dead amp but good BW speaker. I think I'm going to try and get it to put my Reno head into.

Drilling a few holes and cutting and painting a couple blocks of wood should be well within my meager abilities.

Nevermind. Deal fell through. Will keep watching Craigslist though... I'm sure something will pop up.

I have taken the speaker out of most of my heavy amps, and use an extension speaker cab.
I don't find it necessary to modify the original cabinet at all, just remove the speaker.
This not only lightens the load but makes it easy to mix n match various speakers and amps.
It's also nice to keep the amp knobs within hands reach and the speaker behind you a good ways.
In the case of the Reno 400 you would need to create a speaker-cord extension. I completely bypassed the Horn. I used alligator clips and a speaker cord with bare wires on one end. Many amps have a 1/4" output jack for the speaker. You could drill a hole in that panel on the back and easily install a 1/4" jack for a speaker output.

Thanks Pete,
At this point I want to keep the Reno head in a combo. The purpose seeking out of a dead Vegas or Nashville was to get a Black Widow and a cabinet without a horn. Also, I don't want to haul around two big cabinets to play out.

If I did come across a smaller non-combo 1x15 with a BW, I'd probably chop the Reno down to a head or find a dead head cabinet to rehouse it into.

No biggie though as the Scorpion in the Reno is good enough for now and I've just about finished a cover for the horn (removed) opening.

Just have to redo the silver as it never dried properly.
