I did for a bit. Sounded too compressed to me. Almost like a compressor pedal...

While I did like the sound of the 705 in my G2, I now have a Steeltronics pickup, and I could recommend them!

my favorite is factory single coil, but using 705s so I don't fight the hum.

Dan,

FWIW, I put a Telonics X12 on my G2 and never looked back. It is as close to what I want as my technique will probably ever allow.

Dan,

I had a Mullen G2 with Alumitone pickups and thought they sounded great. Mickey Adams helped me put them in. It is not the easiest project but can be done.

Am attaching a couple of youtube clips for you to listen to.

Excuse my C6th playing. Not really very good at it

Have any of you tried the 710 in a G2?

Good question.

I have a 712 (12 string version of the 710) in my mica SD12 G2 and love it. When I was researching which humbucker would work best for me several people here recommended the 710/712 series as the brightest sounding humbucker out there. Bought mine direct from the Bill Lawrence website and had it within a week. It works great for me as I play without picks so needed something very bright. Also, I was able to wire it with a coil tap switch so have the best of both worlds...bright humbucker and ultra bright single coil Winking

I should mention as an FYI, the links to the 2 SD12 G2 songs below were recorded on the stock Mullen single coil before I replaced it with the BL712...

I have 2 G2’s and have had Alumitones, 705’s and Mullen single coils. I settled on the Mullen single coil. YMMV.

Hi Mark. That was a better tone than I got from my Mullen Royal Precision which was so bright in the tone department that it would take the skin off your teeth! Hope you're doing well buddy.

I've currently got Bill Lawrence LXR-16 in my G2 and I like it. To me it sounds sweeter than the Telonics 409 I had in there before which seemed very hot and I couldn't get it adjusted to my liking. Maybe in a different guitar.
