(Or 'C' clips? Not sure what they should be called...)

I finally get my LeGrande back later this week! I haven't played in a year, and I haven't seen my guitar since I shipped it from England back in January. The last thing I do recall, though, is that the clip securing the 4th string 'lower' had somehow disappeared.

I KNOW I used to have a stash of these clips but now they're nowhere to be found. Where can I get some more, please?

I'm going to want to get back playing as soon as I can!

Big box hardware stores (Lowe’s, Home Depot) typically have them in the specialty drawers in the hardware section.

I didn't know that, Roger. Makes sense, I suppose - they're probably widely used in plenty of non-PSG applications.

The trouble is, I don't have a spare one here to compare with what I'd buy.

You can take a look here to determine what size you need (out of stock here, though).

These should be what you need: https://www.grainger.com/product/FABORY-Retaining-Ring-41MH87. A pack of 50 for $1.42. I bought a pack of these for my '98 LL II, perfect fit. The rods are .109", or 7/64", the groove diameter is .076", clips are .015" thick.

There is a lot of places like Ace Hardware, Lowes and other Stores that sell E Clips, But check very close. Many are to thick. Like Ian Worley stated they must be .015 thick to fit in the groves on the Emmons rods.
Take a Dial Caliper with you shopping. Many do not state the thickness on their description.

Many thanks to everyone for the detailed and helpful replies.

I know that this is, relatively speaking, an extremely minor 'fix' (popping on a new E-clip), but I still get nervous, even at the prospect of tackling it. It's nice down here at the bottom-left-hand corner of sunny FL, but it's an awfully long way from the nearest steel-tech!

Anyway, I now have all the info I need - I'm much obliged to you all.

Michael, the later model LeGrande clips are smaller than the item you linked. The rods themselves are 7/64", so the groove is smaller.

Yes Ian, the groove is smaller. A 7/64"(.109") e-clip is sized to fit a .080" diameter groove according to Rotor-Clip, who is the largest manufacturer of all these small e-clips, internal and external snap rings. A 1/4" snap ring fits the groove on a 1/4" shaft and so forth. These are the same e-clips that Billy Knowles told me he uses.

Michael, what I was commenting on is what it says on the product page you linked on your website, which is different than what you're saying here:
PSG Parts wrote:
"These clip rings are sized for Ø.125" rods and fit in a Ø.109" x .029" wide groove."

It says the clips are for .125" rod, w/ .109 groove diameter and .029 width. I'm not trying to bust your chops here, just trying to help a brother out. I just measured a stock clip on my LeGrande and one of the replacements again. They are the same, they most (very) closely match item "SE-011" on the spec sheet you linked, both are .015" thick, with a "Df" dimension of about .076" +/-

Ian, you are the first one to catch that in over 6 years!

I've corrected the copy on the web page to reflect the actual dimensions that they should be. That page was copied from one of the snap ring pages. None of the 3 dimensions stated were correct aside from the fact that it does fit the 7/64" rods.

I ALWAYS appreciate being corrected. I hope that anyone that finds discrepancies such as that brings it to my attention immediately.

Thank you Ian for that catch.

Michael
