Buddy Charleton is my favorite steel player. There's just such a coolness & class to his style. I read that after leaving the Troubadors he started teaching pedal steel. Does anyone know if he ever released a book or video course on playing the steel?

I love Buddy Charleton's playing in the 60's too. His feel and expression was unique.
But as far as playing, I feel he was in line with Buddy Emmons and Jimmy Day... maybe more in the "Day"-field. His EXPRESSION was very unique, but that's a matter of style and feel. I think that if you play off widely available on BE of that time, and change the expression as BC did, you should get closer than most of us could dream of.

I have the tab Buddy wrote for "Almost..." I bought the tab book when Buddy C. was inducted into the ISGCHOF. There was no audio included, and Buddy's wife said that a CD of the track was "in the works." I don't know if that project ever came to pass, and I'm betting not. I still have the tab book around here somewhere in the archives.
