Can someone please tell me about Emmons factory cards and how they get updated. How can we(Emmons owners and fans) see these. If nobody can ever see them I think they would be useless. Is there anybody that updates these cards? I have heard them mentioned before but no explnation is offered and the subject is always quickly changed with an insult added. Can somebody please understand it for me.

Why would anyone care? I’ve never seen one and Mr Cass has worked on several guitars for me way back before I figured out how to work on my own.

The factory cards are stored in the secret black vaults in front of the factory, now cleverly disguised as an HVAC shop.

A newly built guitar was delivered in January, but not from the HVAC place as you suspect.

I wonder if there were any ordered and never delivered? Maybe the new Emmons maker can fix that

So if a guitar is newly built, but not by the owner of the trademark or his agent, what would that be called? If I found a basket of NOS Bigsby parts and built a new guitar would it be a Bigsby??

I'm thinking there may have to be a diamond horseshoe ring involved, too.

On a serious note, what is this card? When I received my new Emmons, in the early 1980s, it didn't come with any kind of a card.

Again, changed the subject and added an insult. What is the purpose and value in a factory card when the company went belly up. I don’t think you can argue the fact that there are many competent people working on or restoring Emmons guitars. There are many guitars just as good and some better than when they left the factory. You have no idea who did what to many guitars that look and play and sound beautiful. These guitars have been worked on by many people long before you even knew what a pedal steel was. And certainly well before you bought your first Emmons. Drop the factory card nonsense along with you insults.

Oh yeah, I’ve seen a lot of boo-boos from some very well known Emmons mechanics as well.( no names)

That's my question, too. Until this discussion got started, I had never heard of a "factory card". The name implies that it would be at the factory; but, I have no idea. That's why I asked the question.

Being called a drunk adds nothing to the discussion.

I wonder if other builders have "factory cards".

Perhaps someone with such knowledge will share their information with the rest of us.

Can we do away with the snarky jokes and insults, please? I am interested in this subject but it's hard to find facts amid the noise. I've deleted some of the replies.

It seems there would be a difference in a 'Warranty Card', which would be what the end user filed after purchase, and a 'Manufacturing Record' that stayed with the company.
I've received photo copies of the manufacturers cards from Gene Haugh for my older ShoBuds showing date, color, model number, serial number, builder, and final inspector.. but without a current licensee or past company officer with the actual records (like Gene), it seems unlikely that the information would be available. It seems that if someone had that, it would be known. It seems like "Updating" would/could only be done with repairs done at the factory or a licensed repair shop, and even that seems unlikely (to me).
Where's Bobbi Seymour? 😄

That’s pretty cool to have, however it tells us nothing about the guitar, when it was built, pedals, knee levers , who worked on it, etc.. And in this case was never sent in with in the five days. And if it was sent in who is going to honor the waranty? Again it’s pretty cool to have original paperwork but useless if the public has no access to it, especially with old guitars. Is that a factory card or just a warranty registration ? We can’t even get an accurate list of when Emmons guitars were built.

Where's Mike Cass? He could answer all of the above questions if he's willing.
