I thought I'd be more into this than I am. I don't have the time with a new job to focus on learning PSG. Too many strings! I'm enjoying playing 6 string a lot more.

So onto the infos:

EMCI Red, not sure which place it's from. The decal's been missing. It's got 8 pedal 8 knee levers, I'm told are set up Emmons style. two of the extra knee levers I believe are not set up. The e9th pedals are in tune to the best of my knowledge, but I think the lower neck of c6th could use some tuning.

Included are some lesson books on PSG if you're Innterested and some PSG charts! Smile

I traded a Tricone of about $3000 value for the EMCI so would look for something similar in trade/sale.

I'm particularly interested in a Duesenberg Fairytale, Rickenbacker b6(prewar), gibson EH 275, or something else nice I might not of thought of...6 string!

Located in Denver, Colorado.

I can get more pictures on request. This steel sounds amazing! And I hope whoever gets it can play it better than I can! I'd rather not horde and get something I can have fun with! That's what it's all about anyway, isn't it?! Smile

Might be interested! but I must be honest, one of the reasons I want to trade out is to have a smaller footprint so I can bring it back and forth to the practice space with the band I'm playing with. The setup /takedown for PSG is a bit much when practice doesn't last that long! How heavy/big is a double 6?

Ryan. I used to own that guitar.I was the second owner. I bought it from Donny Green who bought it from the factory It had Barcus Berry pu's and only 4 knee levers. I added 4 knees with factory parts except for one crosshaft which my machinist brother made for me. Then added two E66s. Good luck with your sale. Ken Collins

I will try to be as diplomatic as I can be.
I have shown interest for this guitar and got pictures.

I will just say this, IF someone is interested in the guitar offered here, I would urge you to ask for DETAILED pictures. You will specifically want to SEE the C6th changer viewed from the right (looking at the changer's back).
And then decide. I am NOT saying "don't buy"... but make sure you know what you are buying.
I expect b0b will remove this post, but I feel that until then, there are things which the seller ought to disclose on his offering there.

What could be the issue? or what could be done to get it back to ok?

I did not realize it had these issues until after sending pics. Is it formica just coming up, or more?

Ken, have you had this issue when you had it?

Not looking to deceive one or anything! If anyone want more pics i'll post a bunch more... just let me know.

I'm new to this and got the PSG just about a month ago from another member here.. hmm.

looks to be a cosmetic issue with the formica. nothing major, shouldn't affect play.

So long as the cabinet itself is not warped, it should be just a matter of re-glueing the mica ....some disassembly would be required of course.

I owned an EMCI with that issue, and played another with it- in my experience, with those guitars, it was purely cosmetic.

These guitar cabinets were constructed butcher block style and sometimes the sections move particularly at the changer end.

FWIW, I played one of these for a few years that had a similar issue at this same place on the C neck and never even noticed it until I took pics for a sale ad.

I'm sure that is the case with Ryan as well. He's a good egg and I doubt seriously there is anything untoward here.

If the cabinet is damaged or warped you might be able to see it a bit clearer from underneath. Try to look underneath the guitar in between the end plate and the changer. I've seen sometimes where the wood splits or warps. If it looks pretty solid from under the guitar it should be fine.

The mica coming loose is a rare but know issue on all mica guitars.

What would have me worried is the fact the at the CHANGER-Block ist OFF by an 1/8 of an inch.
The changer block is NOT "glued" on the mica... it is BOLTED thru the sound board from underneath. In other words the wood is sandwiched in between the screws and the the changer block. The mica can peal off AROUND the changer all you want, but it can never LIFT the changer off.
In other words the question is WHY is the CHANGER OFF/LOOSE?

And to hope or theorize that a loose changer won't affect playability... well, that's going to be open for a debate I refuse to participate in... I rather go play my guitar.

I hope the seller can have his guitar fixed and the guitar then find a loving home.
EMCI's are in my opinion among the top 3 all-pull guitars, for mechanics, playability, serviceability and most of all... TONE.

Case closed for me.

As an owner of a MCI with similar deck warping behind the C6 changer, 100% what Scott, Asa, and Jerry said. Good luck with your sale Ryan.

My old MCI had the same issue. It never affected its performance or playability. I'll always remember it as one of the best-sounding guitars I've ever owned.

Thank you for all the replies. It seems like this is a common issue with EMCIs/MCIs?

I looked at the undercarriage and could not find any warping...Is there anywhere specifically I should look for/take pictures of?

Scottys steel guitar convention
IT was a laminated plywood. He was setup to mass produce the guitars.Regards Chuck

I don't think there is anything wrong with the butch block board, it is just the mica that is warped up.

Agreed! I was not aware of the issue. So right now it's on hold for Chuck! Although not too upset if I have to keep it! haha... Mr. Green I'm losing a bit of money on this, but I should have looked into the EMCI more before I got it, and asked for more pictures Embarassed
