Christmas time for me is always accompanied by depression, anxiety, and stress. Always has been.
So imagine my surprise when I watched the new Pixar film Soul and was completely blown away. Rarely do I laugh out loud when watching a film, especially when I'm by myself. I laughed out loud throughout the first part of this film.
And rarely am I reduced to a weeping mess by the end of the film. I think I used a tissue box on this one.
Great film if you are a musician, probably one of the best films I've seen that captures the magic feeling you can get playing.
Best movie I have seen since Forrest Gump. |

Thanks for the review Bill. I heard the interview on NPR with Jon Batiste which was excellent.
I can’t wait to watch it simultaneously with my 8 yr. old granddaughter , whom I’ve been doing telephone book club and music lessons with all year thru the family distancing thing were all going thru.
We’ll cue it up while on the phone with each other, and enjoy! _________________ A banjo, like a pet monkey, seems like a good idea at first. |

There is definitely something for all ages Brooks, but she is going to miss a lot of the jokes that will make you laugh out loud. One of my favorite lines is Copernicus yelling at a cynical soul: "The world does not revolve around YOU!." |

That’s ok, she’ll grow into them. She’s already reading a level far above our drummer. 😎 _________________ A banjo, like a pet monkey, seems like a good idea at first. |

Well, I guess we are all different. It affected me deeply and really resonated with me. And it definitely lifted me from the funk I was in. |

Bill, start watching Schitt's Creek on Netflix if you have it, Its weird, funny, and it has kept my wife and me sane during this year. I think you would appreciate the humor.
Even my kids like it, may take a while to get into it, but hat was also true of Seinfeld.
Sorry to go off topic. _________________ Regards, Craig

I’m in Mike’s camp. I was expecting a transformative experience but just didn’t connect to the story though I do respect the quality of the artwork and expertise of animator and director. I do like Pixar’s work in general but this one was not the epiphany I was expecting. _________________ Steel Guitar Books! Website: www.volkmediabooks.com |
