Push pull kluson tuners

Does anyone know how many push pulls had these tuners? What year did they quit putting them on? Curious minds (mine) wants to know. Thanks.

well of course I don't actually know the answer but my 81 has them ! I acquired an 83 a year or two later and it had Sperzels.

I did however replace the stock Klusons with the smaller Butterfly top Klusons. Direct replacement .

I don't know the exact dates. But I've seen these tuners on quite a number of guitars in the mid-late 70s until the early 80s. My '77 push-pull has them. I've seen them on push pulls from around '76 or '77 until about '81 or '82. My '80 Franklin has them, and I've seen Franklins from '81 or '82 that had already moved to something else, I think Sperzels. They were used on Gibson Les Paul Standards (and, in gold, Customs) in the same sort of time period, circa '76 or '77 until the early-mid 80s, maybe a little later than I've seen on steels. I used to have an '83 Les Paul Custom with them in gold. The '84 Zum I just got from you has Sperzels. I don't know whether Bruce ever used these Klusons.

Some people seem not to like these, and replace them with the kidney-button Kluson Deluxes, which are a drop-in replacement. There was a thread about that here - https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=361322 - it can make it harder to figure out dates since many have been replaced.

A friend of mine has a 1968 and 1974 push/pull. Both have Klusons.

My '74 has them (keystone)...and the E9 B string and the C6 high G are a pretty tight fit! My '79 DST has them as well..

My '78 D10 PP had them. Replaced them with Grover 210-C's. Much nicer all the way around! Tuning & no pointed corners! My '72 fatback pp had the Kluson bean tuners. Great for a tele, but too much tension for a pp. Did the Grovers on it too! Again, much better!

My '79 Rosewood D10 PP came with the Kluson "Tulip Tuners" and they're still on the guitar.

Hi Jack,
The Grover 210C's will not work on an original PP keyhead. We swapped the
heads to LeGrande ones and then put the 210C's on it.
