what would cause my nv1000 to be real noisy past 2 on the volume could it be the pots

Mike, a little more info might help. Pop and crackle, or what kind of noise?

its more of a hum but real loud crackle thanks Larry

It may not be relevant but clean/check the molex connector from the power supply to the main board as they're prone to causing problems!

If you leave the volume control at a constant setting for long periods, the "scratching" sound may be the result of a faulty pot. You might try turning the volume knob from fully off to max on and back a few times.
