Joe, you’re thinking of Dave Mason’s first solo album Alone Together with the swirly psychedelic vinyl, but this song isn’t on that record (I still have my copy). Feelin’ Alright originally appeared on the second Traffic album.
I saw the video the other day and I found it interesting that Dave went for an arrangement that is pretty close to the Joe Cocker version rather than the original from Mason’s days as a member of Traffic. Probably a lot more people are familiar with the Cocker rendition.
I know a guy here in Sonoma County wine country who owns a snazzy “boutique†hotel. A year or so ago Mason had a gig in Santa Rosa and he stayed at this hotel, $500+ per night. Apparently the music business has been very very good to Dave Mason.

Hey Mark, Thanks for clarifying and correcting! And Donny, thanks for re-posting. Craig, I agree that's a gorgeous Sho-Bud alright, and I always love John's playing.
When the tune started I thought uh oh, this could be embarrassing because it seemed that Mason's vocals weren't so good. But as soon as everyone came in to help it magically transformed.

I stole a ton of guitar ideas offa' Dave's first solo album, Alone Together, back in 1970. Yeah, Feelin' Alright wasn't on it, but to me, it's one of the seminal rock albums of the era. Still have my original marble vinyl copy that I've played a few thousand times at least - there is not a bad cut on it. Caught them in Boston when they toured. I think Dave was one of the most under-rated guitarists out there at the time. That band was just killer.
And this ain't too shabby either.  And hey, I have always liked Dave's voice.

The steel is sparse but absolutely perfect and the high rock and roll profile is still unusual. And I think we must be starved for something - anything. |

That's such a cool chord he's playing. So far all my tin ears can hear is a 5, flat7, and 1.
Actually...I think he's adding the B pedal for a sus4 with the 1, 5 and flat7? |

That's John Cowan. Multi-faceted musician. Once vocalist and bassist for New Grass Revival, progressive 'grasser. Did vocals on Baton Rouge way back when before Garth and the rest.
Played with everybody. Had a band called Strength in Numbers with Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush et al. years ago. He throws down pretty good. |

What are you referring to Craig? That Michael McDonald looks like an apparition?
Or that John McFee is playing “left handed “ - which is strange, since he is a right handed player.
One of the things I’ve noticed in this Covid era of seemingly endless new videos being shared online from Both professionals and amateurs alike is that many show them as if they were an image in a mirror. On a format like Zoom, if people are new to it they see their mirror image, think it’s wrong, and then reverse the setting. What happens then is the viewer sees the mirror image.
I’m guessing McFee or whoever helped him is new to the technology and fell prey to this phenomenon.

So I went back and watched the entire video and it is just this one shot only where the camera is behind McFee and pointed over his shoulder where the image is mirrored.
Somebody screwed up...

I was a big fan of Dave Mason.
I recall he did kind of a country tune called.
"Every women". It had PSG in it.
the chorus went:
"You are every women in the world to me, especially when I'm making love to you".
I guess he got around! |

Well he would have really gotten around if the song title were about the plural of Woman.
