I came across this tuning in a post from 2010
https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=184752

C E G B D F. (G13?) (G11/13?)

C major, E minor, G major +
CM7, G6, G7, Em7
All of the above are playable on adjacent strings, under a straight bar.

It seems like it should be a popular tuning, more versatile than C6, but I don’t recall seeing it referenced before.

Anybody here ever use it?

I use a similar tuning in 8 string form on my second neck. (Lo to hi):

E G# B D# F# A C# E

It gives you a ii-V-I in every position and variations:
Emaj7/9/11/13
G#m7 b9
B11, D#dim, F#m7, A6.

My main neck is tuned regular A6 and the above tuning compliments this. The advantages are as you write, lots of chords but where a 6 tuning excels is in the inversions on offer, which I find particularly useful in solos and, that a minor/ blues scale is available three frets up from any major position. That is really what makes the 6 tuning such fun to play and gives its characteristic.

I sing old time jazz and the tuning above is great for vocal accompaniment when I need a rich chord and don't want take an intonation risk with a bar slant on the 6 neck. I move between both necks for changes in a song but as soon as my solo comes I move back to A6.

Hi Allan,
This tuning is another variation of what I call GM6/ C7 tuning (Bb,C,E,G,B,D,G) with all the inherent versatility that you've mentioned. I haven't really experimented with dropping the Hi-G string down to F# or F, although that's been suggested by others. I see that Stephen Abruzzo suggested dropping down 3 semitones to A,C#,E,G#,B,D for more bottom end. GM6/C7 on 7 or 8-strings does that while retaining the Hi-G string, which I find very useful. The 7-string C6 tuning Bobby Ingano and others use has the same overall range, from Low-Bb up to Hi-G. That's another versatile attribute, in addition to the convenient I, IV, V two-fret slots.

As a chord, that's a CMaj11. Nice tuning - very versatile.
