Here's a site that has lots of Jazz standard tracks already done with Band in a Box that you can use. Great for practicing. My sample was recorded with an iPhone, so that quality is low.

Doug,
You don't have to jump into hard Jazz instantly. Here's an example of just using 3 chords on C6 that's more SWING then anything. But can be related to using in Jazz playing. After all, we know there are only 12 notes in music. It's just what you choose to use in theory.
