Topic: OK? Aluminum Wire to Connect Two Speakers in a PV Deuce |

I just finished installing a new baffle in a Peavey Deuce and added a TT-12 and Eminence Deltalite 2512 side-by-side.
I used the original speaker wire (copper) to connect to the TT-12. I used a short run of what looks to be aluminum wire to go from the TT-12 to the Deltalite--about 6 inches in length. I got a couple short pieces of this electrical wire from an A/C guy doing some work here at the house.
Any issues mixing copper with aluminum? Any safety issues or danger with this arrangement? Please advise.

Aluminum wire is OK. There have been issues with aluminum wire and connectors made for copper wire. But the short run probably isn't a problem.
Being a former amp tech I wouldn't use it.

| I would not use aluminum wire for any type of power signal - AC line cord, anything in the power section of an amp, or speaker wire. Aluminum has about 61% of the specific conductance (inverse of resistance) of copper (mho/meter). Aluminum is also prone to oxidation which can significantly impair conductance. Especially for speaker wire, where typical speaker impedances are on the order of 4-8 Ohms, any additional resistance is very undesirable. |

One other issue is that Aluminum is prone to breaking if vibration is present. Any nick will cause issues. When aluminum was used in wiring your house, the dishwasher circuit would always have issues from the vibrations.
