I'm surprised that no mention of the GK power amps. They are great clean power from 200 watts, to 500 watts, and more, also very light weight. I use the 200 and 500 watt versions, depending if the job is indoors or outdoors.

Looks great, Dick!
Are those rack ears from Gallien Kruger, or after market?
I have an MB 200 that I want to rack mount.
Thanks,
Lee

I'm having problems dialing in my mids. Low and high. Sounds tinty or not full or warm. Mabe its my speaker cab. 1501-4 ohms.

Tommy has those made based on the size cabinet he builds.

Maurice,When I received my cabinet,I put a Black Widow I took from an old Nashville 1000 in it and I did not care for the tone at all. It was dark muddy and quite hollow.

I ran a speaker cable from the GK into the back of my Quilter which has the EPS15C and it was unbelievably better. It was soo much cleaner. The lows were more transparent, mid hollowness went away and the highs were good.

I bought an EPS15C and installed it and the world was a better place.

Here's a back shot before I installed the EPS15C.

THe EPS also made for a nice weight reduction compared to the BW.

Nice amp and cab ! But as John mentioned above, there are a ton of threads and discussion with regard to these GK amps , you just gotta look under the rocks ! Very Happy

I still own and had used a 200 now and then but have since migrated to a DV MARK, 50 Watter for small rooms. Power and CLEAN wise I can't tell the difference between the DV 50 watter and the GK 200 watter ! Maybe the DV folks don't know how to use a calculator ! Laughing

The GKs are indeed great amps.

Tony, other than wattage,do you find much difference between the DV versus GK with respect to tonal quality, EQ'ing etc.?

Never mind, you said you couldn't tell the diffeence.

I couldn't tell the difference in overall OUTPUT power , the 50 watt DV is remarkably capable of delivering clean power.

The DV has On Board reverb and very controllable LO's , MIDS and HI's. I find the MID range very flexible and easy to dial in, for me.

I have two DV's ,one is the Little Jazz 12 Combo which has the neo 12 and then the DV Mark 50 WATT head which I carry as a spare. Both have H Phones out, speaker kill switch and dual 1/4 inch speaker outs. I use the Little Jazz combo on all small room gigs now. It weighs around 20 pounds.

The GK200 is now dedicated to my bass rig, it too is a great small amp. I believe the main reason I went with the DVs is because they have reverb. No extra pedal required !

Either amp will deliver the goods.

Thanks Tony, I hate carrying a reverb pedal so a good onboard one would really be nice.
