Dunno about steelin but a lot of people like NB's cause they come in 6 widths some are wider than they are long!

Dunno if NB makes any but I like skateboard shoes or old flat tennis shoes like Adidas Stan smith, they're stiff, good traction and no cushy/mushy padding under the forefoot. _________________ - keyless Sonny Jenkins laps stay in tune forever!; Carter PSG

Gene, this is very helpful information. I have narrow feet and the pedal spacing on steels are for "average feet" if there is such a thing. I have four pairs of sneakers and the Tommy Hillfiger are the only pair that
work the best. It drove me nuts trying to figure out why until I measured them and found out they are wider than the others. I can be a little off and still push the A and B pedals all the way down. With the other shoes, I have to be dead centered to make sure both pedals go all the way down. I will lay one of the Hilfiger shoes on a piece of paper and draw around it, then go to the shoe store and make sure anything I buy is as wide or wider than the pattern. |

That is so darn practical I would never have thought of it!

I wear my New Balance runners when I'm playing fast music, just cheap flip-flops when the music is more laid back.

I play in New Balance shoes all the time because that's always what I have on. It's the only shoe that is all white (or black), all leather, and comes in a 2E and I know it fits so I just get them online.
Super duper comfortable, and I catch flak for wearing a solid white shoe like a senior citizen (no offense intended) but I love the look and they are cross trainers-not walkers. |

John. I am glad to hear they come in all black. I have a few pairs of black jeans and I like to dress all black on stage but I refuse to wear white shoes dressed in all black. All the black sneakers I have been able to find have white soles. I am in on an all black pair. |

Another benefit of New Balance shoes, as recommended by my podiatrist, is they have sturdy heel support which helps those people with Plantar Fasciitis. I have the 928v3 walking shoe and feel the support helps lessen this ailment. |

I use model MW928 (which is their basic men's walking shoe) when I play. |

watch the grip on the bottom...I had a pair that caught on the pedals...now I choose the smoothest consistent grip _________________ Franklin #130, Melobar Skreemer, Wechter Scheerhorn Resonator, Nashville 112, Boss DD 3 &/or Profex II |
