We heard this in a movie; you may have seen it, 1998 at the Grammys.

Is there anything the queen of soul can't sing better?

That was not easy to do to step into a song like that.

Then they panned the audience for Celine.

She did pretty well considering she had twenty minutes to prepare.

She is the queen.

It wouldn't be fair (or even reasonable) to suggest that perhaps Pavarotti should try his hand at 'Respect.'
(I think perhaps no one has covered that with any success other than making it sound like Laugh In.) (Sockittome sockittome.)
Luciano would have to decline over the libretto, rightly so. 'Thees is just not possible.')

It's just that each word she embraced as if the song were in her repertoire. English or Italian word.
And it was in Pavarotti's key.

Word.

Oh man...the mental image, not just the imaginary sound, of Pavo doing Respect has me doubling over!

I agree with you, what she did there does not seem humanly possible, especially in the same key.

I watched it live that year. It's an amazing showbiz story. It all look like a pre-planned stunt but Aretha actually stepped in with 20 mins prep and nailed it. What performer!
