Here we have a nice Fender 400 built in the 1960's. It has 4 pedals and is setup to a C6th tuning.
These have a classic sound and are very well built for their time. This model has a single lower, single raise changer.
It is in pretty nice shape for a 50+ year old guitar. It was a friend of mines fathers, and she has decided to sell it.

This looks just like mine and very nice it still has the "F" bridge cover. These 400's are more versatile than most realize. Besides functioning as a pedal steel, the pickups on these sound so great that I run mine through a distortion/delay to play ripping rock solos |
Yes, they are very well built, and have a great vintage Fender pickup. If you string them up with the lower 8 strings of the E9th chromatic tuning, you can retune to C6th with a high G without changing a string. Than flip it over and move the cables and you have an 8 string western swing machine!

That's very cool. Recently I've been using mine exclusively for soloing so have tuned it to what I call extended standard E (low to high: D-E-A-D-G-B-E-A). The advantage of this is I learned to play slide on standard E tuning so all those pentatonic and scale patterns I played for hours until they becamse 2nd nature work on the 400...and it sounds fantastic with that Jaguar pickup.
Yours looks to be in excellent shape! Some adventurous player will be very happy they pulled the switch _________________ Hear my latest album, "Celestial" featuring a combination of Mullen SD12 and Synthesizers:

Hey Mike, I'm a little slow running across this Fender 400 you posted for sale. I am interested and hope your May 10 deadline isn't etched in stone. If I'm not too late, let me know. Dick |
