You can spot ‘em a mile away: the Peavey Session and Nashville amps with the vertical ‘stripes’ . Those trim pieces along with the bold 3-D logo are the famous signature of these popular amps; they virtually shout ‘Pedal Steel’. But now that I am interested in buying one and looking at ads for them on the ‘net, it seems that some are pictured with narrow horizontal trim bars instead. The famous logo is still there, but the grill somehow looks bare to me.

Does anyone out there know 1) is this indicative of something, 2) is this permanent, 3) can one choose which style when purchasing, 4) etc.?

Just cosmetic changes over time, kinda like auto model year updates. My '88 Session 500 has the vertical aluminum "stripes",my 2008-ish NV112 doesn't. I don't think the trim is an option.

its the MODEL that matters, not the aluminum strips or lack thereof ! It certainly was an iconic look, one that was recognized immediately. Very Happy

The NEW Nashville 112 and New Session 115 do have the vertical aluminum trim pieces, not as bold as the older Peaveys.

You can tell the older Nashville 400's from the newer ones by the corner pieces. The older ones were chrome, the newer ones were black. Very Happy

Tony is right, many Peaveys had the famous wide aluminum vertical trim pieces, it wasn't just the steel amps. A few had narrow, grooved vertical strips, and even fewer had narrow and wide horizontal trim, and some had none.

I can remember at Scotty's SGC in St Louis seeing all those Peavey amps lined up on stage.
